Interact Brings 700 Intranet Capabilities to Enterprise AI Assistants
Corporate portals are becoming more than places to read company news or download policies. Interact has announced MCP, a connection that lets approved AI assistants work with information, content, communications, and workflows inside an enterprise intranet.
AI assistants can access the corporate portal
Interact says its MCP server can connect the intranet with compatible assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Gemini Enterprise, Workday Sana, and SAP Joule.
Employees can use an approved assistant to:
- Search company policies and internal documents
- Find people, departments, and workplace resources
- Read attached files and return links to the original source
- Check HR or IT requests through connected systems
From searching to completing tasks
The company says the system supports approximately 700 capabilities across 26 areas of the intranet. This means assistants can do more than retrieve information.
With the correct permissions, they may also create or edit pages, prepare employee communications, review analytics, manage communities, and support recognition activities.
Permissions remain connected to each employee
A major part of the announcement is permission control. Interact says each request runs under the signed-in employee’s existing identity and access rights.
This means an AI assistant should only see or change information that the employee is already authorized to access. Changes can also pass through validation, version history, and audit tracking.
What this means for corporate portals
The update could make corporate portals easier to use because employees can start with the assistant they already prefer instead of opening another application.
For internal communications and HR teams, the portal can remain the governed source for policies, news, and employee resources while assistants provide another way to reach that information.
What organizations should review
Before connecting an AI assistant to a corporate portal, organizations should evaluate:
- Which information sources the assistant can access
- Which actions require human approval
- How edits and publishing changes are audited
- Whether sensitive HR information is properly restricted
- How employees are informed when AI is used
