It happens all the time. An employee departs either voluntarily or involuntarily under unpleasant circumstances. The employer believes the employee isnt deserving of receiving a check?often a sizable one?for unused vacation. So, the employer simply pays the employee their base pay through the last day worked. Permissible? Sometimes. Sometimes not.
