The Awards Keep Rolling In for SHRM’s PMQ

For the second year in a row, SHRM’s People Manager Qualification (PMQ)—the premier self-paced people manager development program—was recognized by the Brandon Hall Group Human Capital Management (HCM) Excellence Awards. Garnering even more excitement, the PMQ swept the Gold category in the Leadership Development awards it was eligible for in 2022! The awards are as follows:

  • GOLD for Best Advance in Leadership Development.
  • GOLD for Best Learning Program that Supports and Promotes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • GOLD for Best Unique or Innovative Leadership Development Program.

PMQ helps managers reach their potential and ignite their teams to make lasting change.”

So What’s All the Buzz About?

Many times, we assume someone who was a rock star as an individual contributor will thrive once they’re promoted to a people manager role. But in reality, that’s where many first-time people managers struggle. People aren’t born with the skills to be effective leaders and managers right out of the gate, especially when it comes to team leadership, situational judgment, effective communication and performance management. One in three workers say their manager can’t lead a team. To put it bluntly, bad managers are bad for business—so much so that U.S. organizations have lost $223 billion in the past five years due to employee turnover.

It’s clear that U.S. workplaces have a problem. Fortunately, SHRM has a turnkey solution!

The SHRM PMQ is your gateway to effective people management and leadership. This one-of-a-kind, award-winning learning and development experience combines interactivity, gamification and edutainment to engage learners and build critical people management and team leadership skills. Thousands of professionals have already earned their PMQ, and their numbers are growing by the day. Nearly 90 percent of PMQ-holders said that because of the PMQ, they feel they are better prepared to manage other people. Furthermore, 95 percent said PMQ will help others improve their people management skills. In fact, one recent PMQ-earner said, “I really learned a lot; being a SHRM-SCP, I expected the journey to be similar in content and learning, but this was different. This was a real journey, and a dose of reality and current world events were very present. I am walking away with new perspective and more thoughtful approaches to my team and my management approach.”
